How Melbourne removalists help me have the happiest New Year Ever
It was the beginning of December just before Christmas of last year that I was merrily ploughing along life one day at a time when suddenly an email changed everything. A new job in Melbourne’s CBD Central Business District meant a change in job and residence as the company was offering me a new pad in the CBD itself so as to minimize travel time but this meant I needed to shift residence before the New Year. That would in turn mean hiring removalists in CBD Melbourne.
The euphoria was overwhelming, I was thrilled. New job new life New Year – could it get any better?
Then suddenly as the thought of this newness settled down what dawned on me was the fact that I’d need to move residences. Move residences the word froze me in mid thought as I hate shifting or any kind of movement ever moving furniture from one setting to another within a room. I shall tell you why
Now with moving comes a whole set of troubles. I’m single have a regular house full of furniture and goods that a single man possesses but I possess a whole set of heirlooms that are priceless. Adding to that two cupboards filled with books large and small and a large gramophone record player that takes up half a room. I certainly needed the removalists to move me to CBD Melbourne.
I had to call up professional removalists right away.
Looking back the act of calling the removalist was by far the happiest decision of the year. Now you would say big deal until I tell you why. So early one Sunday morning the Melbourne removalists sent their representative to my residence to access how much stuff I had that needed to be moved and how long it would take.
As there was a paucity of time I was busy using this free Sunday to pack my stuff in boxes. All the time I was grappling of what to take with me and what to leave behind. Being a bit of a hoarder I find this chore very difficult. The rep from the Melbourne removalists was quite startled at the sheer volume of stuff he would have to move for a single man. He said something that stayed. He said, “Sir if there is something here that you have not used for a year the chance of you using it is remote, and if there is something you haven’t used for two years and it’s in good condition donate it to charity”
Like a bolt of lightning it struck me yes there was a house full of clothes and household items including my mother’s baking machine I’d never used. A heap of coats here, a set of 200 pens I’d never use, shoes by the dozen only worn once, blankets and even a set of chairs that stood stacked in one corner of my store. All could go to charity.
The next day as providence would have it I received a mailer from a Charity asking for donations and anything around the house that was not being used. I contacted them and they even promised to come by and collect all the stuff that I was giving away. So I piled it all up and they took it away I was happy to give they were happy that I was in deed playing Santa.
Thereafter the CBD Melbourne removalists came in and packed and moved all my stuff just in time for me to ring in a Merry Christmas in my new home. Christmas day came and as I returned from a turkey lunch with friends I saw a band of little boys at my door. I said to myself Woah a set of carol singers at the door of my new home wow!! Suddenly the tiniest of them a boy just over a foot high whipped out a sparkling fresh plum cake with my name written on it
It had THANK YOU in bold and my name written on it, the little boy added, “Baked in your mothers bake sir.” Tears welled up and happiness flooded the air. Could I have asked for a happier beginning?
For me the New Year had indeed begun already. I learnt the art of giving and it was all thanks to a Melbourne removalists company.
